For a few years our paths diverged but I kept an eye on the sport. He continued to climb and the momentum built.
He arrived in Formula 3 and, if truth be told, for me Senna was an interloper. Another foreign import moving on a sea of cash. His car sponsored lavishly by Brazilian bank Banerj. I wanted Martin Brundle to win the championship that year and he damn nearly did.
