The reason why public records like Galveston County Public Records are some of the most requested for records from the government would be because of the fact that these are the official records of the government in regards to the events that are reflected upon the four corners of the records. As the official records of the government, these are the best evidence that one could present in order to prove the happening of the event that is reflected on the record, although what that event is exactly would depend on the record that would be requested from the government. It must be noted that there are a lot of records that would fall under this classification and the person making the request would have to be sure as to the record that he or she is interested in.

The reason for this would be because of the fact that the records could only prove that which is actually written on the face of the records. This means that no matter what the event that is being sought to be proved is, the fact that it is not reflected upon the records would mean that these records could not prove the same, and this would be true even if the event that is not written is a condition precedent to the happening of the event that is written on the records.

As was mentioned before, these records are the official records of the government, and because that is the case, these records are afforded the presumption of regularity such that the contents of the records are presumed to be true and accurate at all times. The party presenting the copies of the records would be under no obligation to prove that the contents of the records are true and accurate, though it must be noted that because the presumption applies only if the records were obtained from the proper sources, there is still the need to prove that the records were obtained from the proper sources.

The proper sources of the records in question would depend on the record that would be the target of the request. As such, the first thing that the person interested in making the request should determine is where the records that he or she is interested in are located. Note that most records are kept at the place that made them in the first place, although this is by no means a hard and fast rule. There may be some records that are kept at a central repository or at some other offices. Determining the location of the records is important given that the method that one would use in order to make the request for copies of the records would depend on the office where the records are being kept, though it would usually be through the mail or in person with both methods having their own associated set of advantages and disadvantages.

Galveston County Public Access may be done online through the use of online databases, but it must be noted that these databases are not official sources; hence, any and all information obtained through them could not be used for official purposes.
