Be encouraging. Make your child feel good about progress by consistently rewarding successes. Eliminate bladder irritants. At night, start by eliminating caffeine (equivalent to chocolate milk and cocoa) and if this doesn’t work, minimize citrus juices, artificial flavorings, dyes (especially red) and sweeteners. Many mother and father don’t realize these can all irritate a child’s bladder.

There are two types of alarms: audio and tactile (buzzing) alarms. The precept is that the wetness of the urine bridges a hole within the sensor, which in turn sets off the alarm. The sensor is positioned either on the child's underwear or mattress pad. The youngster then awakens, shuts off the alarm, finishes urinating within the rest room, returns to the bedroom, modifications clothes and the bedding, wipes down the sensor, resets the alarm, bedwetting medical term and returns to sleep.

Cutting back on drinks that comprise substances that irritate the bladder: caffeine, carbonation (fizz/bubbles), citrus juices and sports activities drinks.
