In Vietnam, Tet ushers in the New Year and is by far the biggest day on the national calendar.  This is the one night that Tet becomes a boisterous celebration; the rest of the time it’s a fairly quiet family affair.  Tet rites begin a week before New Year’s Day, and the first three days of the New Year are official holidays, but the event visitors will really want to experience is New Year’s Eve.

Heading away we drive towards Hue, which has been once the feudal capital of Vietnam from 1802 to 1945. The winding road begins even as we make our way up the spectacular Hai Van pass. A view from the top in the pass is certainly one of Vietnam’s most impressive panoramic scenes. On arrival in Lang Co, we produce a break with the beach for the leisurely swim. The impressive drive will deliver us to Hue by early afternoon.

Today we have an excursion to Cu Chi Tunnels to check out an exposition hall and a widened section in the tunnels to secure a feel from the underground life. Upon leaving Cu Chi we drive a shorter distance to Tay ninh binh tours (please click for source), the headquarters of Cao Dai Sect . We arrive over time to start to see the ornate temple of Cao Dai and attend the great mid-day service once the followers fill the hall wearing colored robes. This religion was founded in 1923 now numbers over 2 million members. The incredible underground network in Cu Chi stretched over 200 kilometres and became legendary throughout the American war. The extensive tunnels happen to be specially constructed with living areas, weapon factories, filed hospitals, command centres, plus accommodation. There will also be possibilities to fire off rounds from an AK47 or MK16 with the nearby rifle range. These costumes are a symbol from the curious combination from the Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism.
