Day 3: VIETNAM NORTHERN TREKKING TOUR: Hanoi - Mai Chau Trekking Tour to Hang Kia (B/L/D)
The journey northwards begins once we depart Hanoi and drive over the scenic landscape of rice fields, tea plantation and traditional stilt houses to Mai Chau. This remote village is conquered through the Hmong hill tribe people. After a lunch at Poong Coom Village near Mai Chau Town, we wind our way for an hour to Xa Linh to start out our trekking. O/N at Hang Kia village. They are very poor, but have an interesting local background and a colorful culture. We walk with the breathtaking mountain scenery and a few hill villages before arriving at Hang Kia in a picturesque valley of peach orchards. Upon leaving the village of previous night we blaze a trail with our local guide and walk through tropical jungle to Cun Pheo. The accommodation is very easy and dormitory style, no western facilities however the experience is definitely unique. By mid afternoon we reach Van village that's home towards the White Thai people.

Today we spend our time for a quick walk on valley floor in the middle of rice fields and stunning mountain backdrop. Here is a chance for the shoppers to try their hands at bargaining. Upon leaving Mai Chau we embark on a drive down the winding roads towards Man Duc. We continue our overland vacation to Cuc Phuong National Park and pass through the breathtaking countryside. Along the way we have seen many mountaineers doing their daily works for example logging, herding buffalo, tilling the sector or weaving brocade. They have settled there long time ago and make for the main local population.
We spend this time out on the boat cruising around Ha Long Bay towards Cat Ba. The extra enjoyment is a wonderful seafood lunch served fully briefed.
