I will say that getting into the river in certain parts can be difficult. You have to climb down rocks and they are immediately in about ten feet of water, nevertheless the scenery is incredible. The actual beach area is a bit small but very scenic. The fish are all halong cruises around and there are even some relics cruising floor for viewing. My wife and I like to snorkel which is some of the finest we have seen. Beach chairs and umbrellas are plentiful and they are no extra charge. The cost to rent fins, mask, snorkel tube, and life jackets are 2 for $15. There is also a nice pool area surrounded with comfortable chairs. They offer rental for both snorkeling and tank diving.

They halong cruises also have some amazing walking trails from the jungle. The trail includes some authentic Mayan ruins and also some reproductions. The trails are also filled up with beautiful flowers and unique foliage. We saw a great deal of giant iguanas, colorful birds and barking geckos. Chankanaab national park is literally ten minutes from your pier. The cost for the taxi ride is $10 and also the park entrance is $20 per person.
