Following lunch in Mai Chau town we drive to the White Thai village of Sa Linh from where we commence a 3-hour trek towards the village of Hang Kia. We then ride 20km through Cuc Phuong forest to the park center, tea break, then trek in 3 hrs round trip for the Tetrameles nudiflora (Sequoia) 1,000 years tree. Transfer beyond Cuc Phuong within the afternoon then ride through rice fields, limestone rocks to Ninh Binh.
After breakfast we spend the morning strolling across the surrounding villages and meeting villagers across the way. With lunch finished there may time for any short siesta or stroll down towards the river before embarking on a 3 hour walk towards the village of Xo (pronounced Soh). After a morning's exploring we go back to Van village for lunch. This evening following dinner, we will have the opportunity for further cultural interaction, before retiringVan Village Mai Chau for our second night in a stilt house.
Leave Hanoi on our support vehicle, to Hoa Binh for our starting point, this really depends upon how fit you might be so we can pick the best terrain that suite you, 20 km before Hoa Binh town, and 50 km before Mai Chau valley (this is a mountain challenge).
